Brittany is caught out lying through her ‘teeth’ once again
Federal Member for Capricornia Michelle Landry has questioned State MP for Keppel Brittany Lauga’s integrity following a bizarre and misleading Labor campaign over funding for public dental services in Capricornia.
“Brittany has been caught out lying through her ‘teeth’ once again over dental services,” Ms Landry said.
The hard-working federal MP was responding to a series of media statements in which Lauga attacks the Turnbull-Joyce Liberal-National Government over public dental funding for Queensland – when, in fact, the problem was caused by Lauga’s own federal Labor colleagues in Canberra.
In a statement Ms Landry said:
“Once again Labor's state MP for Keppel Lauga continues to bleat and mislead people in regard to funding for dental services in Capricornia.
“While the Queensland state Labor Government is broke and incompetent - and therefore has to run the state while heavily relying on Commonwealth handouts - here are the real facts in regard to dental funding for Queensland. You will clearly see that it’s Lauga’s own Labor Party that has yet again let the people of Capricornia down:
• On 23 April 2016 Federal Health Minister Sussan Ley announced the Commonwealth’s intention to introduce a new revolutionary $2.1 billion Child and Adult Public Dental Scheme (caPDS).
• The caPDS would have been the largest-ever Commonwealth investment to the states to provide frontline public dental services.
• By guaranteeing Commonwealth dental funding to the states in legislation for the first time, it would have given the states the certainty they need to invest in long term infrastructure that is desperately needed.
• However, because Federal Labor has not supported the caPDS, the legislation has not passed. It’s Labor’s own fault. The Federal Government is now currently considering its options.
“Meanwhile, the hypocritical Lauga should throw her grenades at Bill Shorten and her own federal Labor colleagues, who clearly do not have the interest of people in Capricornia at heart,” Ms Landry said, “it’s pretty obvious she lacks credibility.”
