Livingstone receives vital bridge renewal
Livingstone Shire Council will receive a vital bridge replacement following the announcement of successful projects under round three of the Federal Government’s Bridges Renewal Program.
The Federal Government will contribute 50% of the construction costs towards the $ 850,300 Daly Creek Bridge Replacement in Bungundarra, north of Yeppoon.
Federal Member for Capricornia said that the bridge upgrades were part of ongoing improvements to increase connectivity in the region and were developed in partnership with the community.
“This brings the total federal contribution towards bridges in Capricornia to over $70 Million in the last 12 months,” she said.
“Under the program, vital upgrades are improving road conditions across the region including four bridges on the Peak Downs Highway and the Cherwell Creek Bridge.”
Minister for Infrastructure and Transport Darren Chester said the $162.53 million funding toward round three of the Bridges Renewal program was in addition to the $216 million committed under the first two rounds.
“The renewal and upgrade of 186 bridges under this round will deliver social and economic benefits throughout regional Australia,” Mr Chester said.
The Federal Government’s financial commitment in this round will be matched by successful proponents. To allow for a wider distribution of projects, the Australian Government’s contribution under round three has been limited to $5 million per project.
