Capricornia Punching Above Its Weight
Capricornia MP, Michelle Landry, has today rebuked faux outrage displayed by her political opponents regarding the failed bid by the Queensland Government to garner federal funding for one of their key election commitments showed both arrogance and immaturity.
“The ALP candidate needs to come clean with Central Queenslanders, do they really think the funding for the South Rockhampton Flood Levee should have been given to a project that has not had its due diligence done?
“To this very day no costed plan has been presented to me, nor have I been asked to provide support for a funding application for Ms Lauga’s extension lead project.
“In fact, the Member for Keppel told Central Queenslanders in 2017 the $25 million she promised was to deliver power, water, sewage, and jetty facilities for the island; so why can’t the Member for Keppel get on with delivering her promise?”
“The Regional Growth Fund was a very popular grants programme, with over 300 applications for funding.
“After a competitive process, run by an independent panel, 16 projects were funded across the country.
“For Capricornia to have secured funding for one of just sixteen nationwide projects is a massive coup for the region and it just shows how unprepared for public office the candidate is for them to suggest we would have got several,” said Ms Landry.
“When I lobby, things happen. So far, the Labor candidate has no record.”
