A local group in Capricornia has received $3,636 to ensure the contribution of our local servicemen and women is appropriately honoured, Member for Capricornia Michelle Landry, said today.
Ms Landry said Coppabella State School had been awarded the funding under the Australian Government’s Saluting Their Service grants program to help install an Anzac Community Memorial at the School.
“The grant will help ensure the contribution of those from our local area who have served our nation, and those who continue to serve, will be remembered and appropriately honoured,” Ms Landry said.
This project is one of 66 Saluting Their Service grants recently announced by the Minister for Veterans’ Affairs and Minister Assisting the Prime Minister for the Centenary of ANZAC, Dan Tehan.
This round of Community Commemorative Grants sees a total of $162,181 shared across the nation among community projects honouring Australia’s wartime history at a local level.
“The hard work and dedication of organisations and groups such as Coppabella State School ensure communities can preserve our local history for future generations.”
Local community organisations interested in applying for funding under the Saluting Their Service grants program are encouraged to visit the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) website www.dva.gov.au/grants or call DVA on 133 254 or 1800 555 254 from regional Australia.
