Federal Member for Capricornia Michelle Landry is accusing the Palaszczuk government of deliberately delaying urgent disaster funding for Central Queensland.
"The Premier knows from the last major disaster that they need to send the assessment in so that the federal government can release Category C Funding," Ms Landry said.
"Instead, following requests to send the assessment and 2 weeks since the event, she has sent a letter to the Prime Minister asking for Category C.
"Why wait 2 weeks to send a letter and why not send the assessment that would allow us to release funding that allows business and primary producers to access grants?
"The premier is playing games with people's lives.
"I have been visiting the regions of my electorate and they are all saying the same thing; please get Cat C approved," she said.
Ms Landry said that reports from residents indicated the assessors from the State Department for Agriculture had driven down the highway without actually stopping to see on-property damage.
"The federal government is ready and waiting, I urge the Premier to get the assessments in so we can get the regional economy back on track," Ms Landry said.
