THE lowest small business tax rate since the Second World War means local small businesses can reinvest to grow and create more jobs, Capricornia MP Michelle Landry says.
“Small business is the backbone of our community but is a sector that feels the brunt of downturns in other sectors like mining and tourism,” Ms Landry said.
Joined by Federal Small Business Minister Michael McCormack in Yeppoon today, Ms Landry said the Government is focused on making business easier for small business.
“The Minister for Small Business has focused on making running a business just that little bit easier for small businesses in our region,” Ms Landry said.
“The Government’s support for small business is all about addressing the real issues facing small business and includes cutting red tape, reducing tax, simplifying the Business Activity Statement and levelling the playing field for small business.
“These are all geared towards making lives easier for working mums and dads, supporting the local business community and creating better opportunities.”
Mr McCormack said the Government’s small business support helps create local jobs.
“Michelle Landry and I know that it is small business which creates jobs,” Mr McCormack said.
“That’s why we are focused on supporting small business – with tax cuts, an extension to the instant asset write-off for more small businesses and incentives to work with State and Territory Governments to cut red tape.
“These all help businesses spend more time and money investing in their operation, growing and – most importantly – creating local jobs.”
Mr McCormack said there has never been a better time for locals to start their own small business.
“Every day I meet some amazing small businesses doing incredible work and creating local jobs and opportunities,” Mr McCormack said.
“No matter the small business, its location or its size – all small businesses start with the spark of an
idea and hard work.
“The Government wants to see small business succeed, so now is the time to start your own, pursue
your idea and help our economy grow.”
