-Central Queensland motorists and their safety are front-of-mind for local MP
-Delivers $64 million to upgrade notorious sections of Yeppoon Rd
-Getting Central Queenslanders home sooner and safer
With an increase to the ROSI programme’s investment in Mt Isa to Yeppoon traffic corridor, the Liberal National Government has delivered an extra $64 million, specifically to the Yeppoon to Rockhampton section. This takes the total investment corridor investment to $254 million.
Federal Member for Capricornia, Michelle Landry, has welcomed a $64 million injection to the troubled link between Rockhampton and the Capricorn Coast and said the Yeppoon Rd investment will tackle safety concerns arising from growing traffic volumes through the area.
“I drive Yeppoon Rd almost every day and I know just how important the safety of this road is for so many Central Queensland families.
“This road has an unenviable record for fatalities with twenty deaths recorded in the past 20 years, this just isn’t good enough.
“The Capricorn Coast has one of the fastest-growing populations in the state and it is vital we plan and invest in the infrastructure that will keep CQ moving safely well into the future,” Ms Landry said.
“It is clear we need to address Yeppoon Road and I am pleased to be able to deliver the funding we need to complete the long-awaited duplication of this vital commuter link, improving safety and efficiency for motorists so they can get home sooner and safer.”
The $64 million investment will deliver the much anticipated completion of the duplication between Ironpot Rd and Neils Rd and target safety blackspots along the corridor.
